tim o’brien photos

welcome to tim o’brien photos.
Hacienda Alberca
tim’s camera extends his sight and shares his vision. from people to places, tim looks for the lens to find what his eyes overlook.

this photo captures old and new, decay and rebirth. taken in a small hotel, hacienda puerta campeche, on mexico’s carribean coast, the image captures the calm green waters of the pool framed by the ancient walls that once supported this former hacienda. profile

here tim has caught a girl in profile. the dark background focuses attention on her face. what is the girl looking at and why? the profile asks more questions than it answers.

Game Over

In one of tim’s freest published photos, a baseball player returns to the dugout after an unsuccessful at-bat at the end of a losing game. taken at a local minor league game, the durham bulls would go http://www.timobrienphotos.com/blog/about-me-and-my-photography/on to lose, but this photo would end up on the pages of the local paper and in a book on the spirit of sports.

please review tim’s portfolio, read more about tim and hie vision and peruse his stories on this blog. tim is availlable to shoot in the chapel hill area, his prints are available for sale and his images are available for license.

If you find this post useful or interesting, please consider buying me a cup of coffee.

    Hi Tim,

Your photography is wonderful, very rich and beautiful. I came to your site because Google sent me to your iPad story.

I have one comment, though — your website is very difficult to read. The blue does not contrast enough against the black, and the yellow against the black is also hard on the eyes. I much prefer black against a white background. I realize you’ve been doing this for a long time, but this is just a suggestion!

    Thanks,
    Diane

      Thanks, Diane.

I can’t read web pages with white backgrounds. I need to have my face within a few inches of the screen and all that white light is too bright. So I prefer off-white fonts on a black background. My site’s color scheme is meant to share that experience with visitors. Perhaps I should make that explicit somewhere on the site.

I use Firefox with the NoSquint extension that allows me to override the color scheme for web sites that I visit (as well as set the default Full and Text Zoom levels).

Thanks again for visiting and commenting.

    Dear Tim,

Thank you for your fast response! I completely understand. However, if I might humbly recommend, it would be great if you could make all the blue on the site the same light blue as in “Leave a Reply” above. I find the darker blue in the text to have such little contrast that it is just about unreadable. Now, it may just be my monitor, but others may have this issue, too. I hope you can make it easier to read without compromising your ability to read it.

    Thank you for listening!

    Best,
    Diane
