VisionWalk is the fundraiser for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, which, as its name suggests, funds research to cure retinal degenerative diseases (like mine). First watch a video from VisionWalk supporter, Nancy Kerrigan. You can learn more about the fight against blindness and how to support me in this year’s walk at my VisionWalk web site: http://www.fightblindness.org/goto/timobrien.
I am putting a team together to walk with me at this year’s VisionWalk here in the Triangle. VisionWalk raises money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, which specializes in researching cures for retinal degenerative diseases. I have one of these conditions, Stargardt Disease, so you can see why I am doing this. The walk is about 3 miles and is done in the morning, so it is not too long and you will be home for lunch (or we can go out together afterward). The route is around Lake Lynn in Raleigh, so is quite pleasant as well. There will be lots of family-friendly activities, including face-painting, to add to the fun. Please join me on the walk. If you will be in the area on the morning of June 6th, please walk with us by joining Team Eureka. If you can’t make it, please considering sponsoring me via my VisionWalk page. Thank you! If you find this post useful or interesting, please consider buying me a cup of coffee.Related Posts:VisionWalk 2008: Will you walk the Walk?Nancy Kerrigan Speaks for the Fight against BlindnessMore Reasons to Support Me & VisionWalkVisionWalkVisionWalk on Flickr

Spotted on Fred’s Head, a blind artist supports the fight against blindness: J D Lewis Wildlife Prints: A Unique Vision of Nature. “Hello. My name is John Lewis, owner of JD Lewis Wildlife Prints. Once a dedicated wildlife artist and graphic designer, I have long since set aside my paint brush to pursue other career ventures. My decision to leave the art world was largely influenced by a blinding eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa, or (RP). Today, I have lost roughly 95% of my vision, therefore, I am no longer producing new artwork. However, during the 1980s, I was blessed with enough central vision and self-discipline to enable me to produce a number of original detailed wildlife drawings and paintings. At this time, I am offering a superior quality Giclees reproduction of my wildlife art and I am confident that you will love your print and will enjoy it for many years to come!” Click this link to visit http://www.JDLewisWildLifePrints.com. Every time someone buys a JD Lewis wildlife print, 5% of that sale will be donated to The Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB). Donations to FFB will help increase the funding that drives the research, which will lead to cures and treatments [...]
