I had a nice selection of four shots in last week’s paper, cCLIFF’S CARVES OUT A CHAMPIONSHIP. I had had a tough time shooting the previous week’s playoff game (see Summer Softball Playoffs) as the game started late. This time around, they played a double header and I had good tlight for the first game. Amred with good light and good karma, I came home with some good photos.
PHOTOS BY TIM O’BRIEN Above, Cliff’s Meat Market’s Lucy Stephenson swings for the fence early in the first game of the hard-fought double-header Carrboro Co-Rec softball finals against Chapel Hill Air at Hank Anderson Park on Tuesday. Below, Chapel Hill Air’s Ed Sawyer takes a good cut during the first game. Cliff’s Meat Market went on to win both games to take the championship in the Carrboro Parks and Recreation league.
Above was the lead photo for the story, catching a good hack at the ball early in the game. The photo below was cropped to the top half to catch the pitcher’s toss.
Here I caught another swing with some decent movement of the ball.
I like this shot, but it ended up as a tiny shot on the front page, sort of a teaser. Slow pitch meant lots of base runners, fortunately for me.
