iPhone Tip: If Found Apps

May 30, 2009
By Tim

A while back I posted a tip about adding IDs to the iPhone wallpaper. This tip involved adding your contact info manually using an image editing software on your desktop. Too tricky for most, including me. Fortunately, it turns out that ther is an easier way to do this. There are to similar apps, with sacly similar names, that will add your contact info to images directly on your iPhone.

If Found, Please…

If Found, Please… is a cool little free app. From the developers at Polka:

Create a message and contact information on your own personal wallpaper in case your phone is lost. Best part is the information is viewable even if the phone is locked. Hopefully the nice person that finds it will contact you and arrange its safe return!

The app puts a little text box and an exclamation mark at the bottom of the image you would like to be your iPhone wallpaper. Once saved, you hop over to the Photo library and set the new image as your wallpaper.

If Found

If Found is quite similar. From the developers at mobilityware:

If Found is an application that lets you store your contact information on your iPhone or iPod Touch. In the event that your device is lost, the person finding the device can run this application and return the device to you. If Found will also let you turn your contact information into wallpaper that will be displayed every time the device is turned on.

The additional feature offered by this app is the more extensive information displayed if the lucky Samaritan who finds your iPhone opens the app.

If you find this post useful or interesting, please consider buying me a cup of coffee.
