On the same snow day that we took the dogs for their romp in the snow, we also took them for a short walk around the nearby geese-filled pond. I had much better luck with the camera here. The images were much sharper. Using Lightroom’s auto white balance and tone features gave the images a sepia-like look. I liked the look, so kept it.

Geese lined the pond’s edges, occasionally flocking to one side or the other in search for food. The snow covered banks reflected in the water, often giving the geese a nice white background. I took over a hundred photos at the pond and liked several. I cropped them a bit, as my zoom lens was not as long as I would have liked, and I used LR to create more contrast. I have included a few of the final images with this post.

I did not capture the eyes of the birds as well as I would have liked. I should have closed the aperture a bit to widen the depth of focus. All in all, though, I like these shots.
I look forward to the next snow day!
